Our founder, Irina Lorens, attended the Fintech Trends conference and engaged in discussions with the National Bank of Ukraine and other key players in the Ukrainian fintech market. Here are the key takeaways from a 5-hour closed-door discussion:

1️⃣ Open Banking and PSD2: The National Bank of Ukraine is starting the implementation of the European PSD2 standards. This means users will be able to manage their finances through a single platform, offering greater control and convenience. While the idea sounds promising, practical examples of its application are currently lacking, so we look forward to the creativity of entrepreneurs.

2️⃣ NBU's Key Directions:Among the priorities are the introduction of a "regulatory sandbox" for innovation, improving financial education, and a focus on open banking.

3️⃣ Digital Innovations and Cybersecurity: The NBU emphasizes the importance of strengthening cybersecurity measures (with a 300% increase in fraud) and the implementation of instant payments, as well as remote identification and verification.

🤷‍♀️ Interestingly, no one could answer the question on how KYC will distinguish between the user and user’s AI avatar during the verification process.

☑️ Added clear card status and information-navigation messages during the card issuance stages.
☑️ Added informational messages in case of transaction failures.
☑️ Reviewed the entire interface, rephrased unclear formulations based on your questions.

- restore the correct visual representation of own funds on the card
- focus on correct visual and tactile interface operation, including online updates of data on transactions and balances

💡 How does weld crypto card work?💳

Good Monday morning! I've just paid for a cup of morning coffee with my Weld card and I'm ready to break down for you what happens "under the hood":

1. As a client, I already have a Weld card linked to my Apple or Google Pay, and to my chosen crypto exchange or custodial wallet.
2. I come to a cafe with a dream to have a cup of coffee costing 2usd ☕️
3. After placing an order, I tap my phone to the POS terminal 📲.
4. The terminal sends a debit request to the bank's processing center (in USD or any other local currency) 💶.
5. The processing center contacts Weld; we check the wallet balance on the exchange and transfer 2 USDT from the client's wallet to our wallet on the same exchange (with no blockchain fees). If successful, we authorize the transaction.
6. The bank converts the transaction into a fiat overdraft. Since the card initially has a zero balance (as funds are stored on the exchange or user's wallet), for a day the card balance becomes -2usd.
7. The cafe receives their $2, and I get my cup of coffee ☕.
8. Weld gathers all transactions I made throughout the day, exchanges the crypto in Lithuania where we have a crypto license, and repays the overdrafts to the bank on behalf of our clients, making their balances back to zero.
