KPMG has just released an intriguing report shedding new light on Bitcoin from an ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) perspective. According to the report, Bitcoin appears to offer some surprising sustainability advantages.
💡 In terms of the environment, the report revealed that carbon emissions are a less concerning indicator than one might think compared to energy consumption. In fact, Bitcoin was classified as the second least significant contributor in terms of environmental damage when compared to sectors like tobacco or tourism.
💰 When it comes to money laundering, Bitcoin seems to be just a drop in a much larger ocean. According to the United Nations, money laundering constitutes 2-5% of the global GDP, but surprisingly, it represents only 0.24% of Bitcoin transactions.
In summary, it appears that there are positive aspects to consider when it comes to Bitcoin and sustainability.
