Andus, Propelling 'zk-rollup' to Strengthen Public Permissionless Blockchain
[E-Daily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah] On the 22nd, Park Sung-joon, CEO of Andus Co., Ltd., who also holds the position of Director of the Blockchain Research Center at Dongguk University's Graduate School of International Information Security, revealed that they are developing the 'Anduschain zk-rollup Project' to enhance the scalability and security of Anduschain, the only public permissionless blockchain in Korea.
Currently, in Korea, various Layer 2 projects are being pursued to enhance the scalability and privacy of public permissionless blockchains. Park Sung-joon, a Ph.D. in cryptography (zk·zero knowledge), stated that he believes zk-rollups will ultimately become more prevalent than the currently popular Optimistic Rollup method.
As a result, the Anduschain zk-rollup Project has been initiated, with its basic design and direction set, and development has commenced, aiming for commercialization by 2024.
Park Sung-joon stated, “Through this, we plan to significantly improve the speed of Anduschain and set the fees to be the lowest in the world.”
Anduschain is realizing sustainable decentralization based on its unique deb consensus algorithm. The deb consensus algorithm allows for the development of a public blockchain that is faster than Ethereum while maintaining decentralized characteristics. Also, the Anduschain zk-rollup is designed to be 100% compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), facilitating easy transition for Ethereum-based decentralized applications (Dapps).
Anduschain is utilizing the government's private investment-led technology startup support (TIPS) program to support blockchain technology-based startups.
This program is being conducted in cooperation with the Daegu Metropolitan City Happy Promotion Social Service Agency, running a blockchain technology-based startup process, and from September to December 2023, they are supporting entrepreneurship and business activation for three business models. The BPIS program operates in three sessions annually, and in mid-December 2023, they plan to recruit for the first session of 2024.

Over 120 Web3 Companies Gather Together-Launch of Busan Blockchain Alliance
The "Busan Blockchain Alliance (BBA)," consisting of over 120 Web3 companies, was launched on November 9th to transform Busan into a world-class blockchain city.
Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun announced the launch of BBA during the "Blockchain Week in Busan 2023 (BWB2023)" held at Signiel Busan. He stated, "By 2026, we aim to make Busan the most advanced blockchain-based city in the world." The event was hosted by the City of Busan and co-organized by Nons, JJ Global, and BeOnMedia.
BBA is envisioned to contribute to the creation of a blockchain industry ecosystem and economic revitalization in the Busan area. Participants in BBA include Fink, Lambda256, CODE, Crypto.com, HanPass, Korea ST Trading, and others like DSRV, Parameta, Superblock, and Hyperism have also joined.
Mayor Park declared, "Within three years, we will build a global megacity with economic, financial, social, and administrative infrastructure based on blockchain, and turn the blockchain industry into a next-generation future growth engine following semiconductors and shipbuilding."
He also announced the "Busan Blockchain Doctrine," emphasizing, "By 2026, we will create the world's first megacity where citizens' opinions are directly reflected in city administration through decentralized identity verification and resident voting, all values are tokenized and traded through the Busan Digital Asset Exchange, and every citizen enjoys efficient finance through the blockchain-based local currency Dongbaekjeon."
BWB2023 will take place over two days, from today until the 10th. Speakers include Laurie Knight, Chairman of Oxford Metrica, Caroline Pham, Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Kim Yong-bum, CEO of Hashed Open Research, Patrick Yoon, CEO of Crypto.com, Lee Jung-yeop, Chairman of the Blockchain Law Society, Kim Ji-yoon, CEO of DSRV, Oh Hyun-ok, CEO of GCrypto, and Kim Jae-yun, CEO of Overprotocol.

Daegu Metropolitan City Public Agency for Social Service to Launch Blockchain-based Youth Entrepreneurship School… Recruiting 1st Batch of Students

On August 13th, Daegu Metropolitan City Public Agency introduced 'Blockchain School', established to promote the blockchain-based entrepreneurial ecosystem of Daegu City by offering education and support for local youth. Any youth between ages of 19 and 34 can apply.
Daegu Metropolitan City Public Agency will recruit students for the first term of the Blockchain School until August 31st.
The first term of the program will run for four months from September 1st to December 31st. Applications are open for both teams and individuals. For theoretical education, Dr. Park Sung-jun, the head of Dongguk University's Blockchain Research Center, will be in charge, and for practical training, Professor Choi Se-woong from the same university's research center will lead.
The program consists of a 'One-stop program' that supports everything from theory to actual entrepreneurship:
△ Step 1: Blockchain and digital asset theory and practical training (8 days)
△ Step 2: Exploration of blockchain-based business models (7 days)
△ Step 3: Selection of business models with a high probability of success (3 days)
△ Step 4: Concrete entrepreneurial and growth support
△ Step 5: Monitoring for vitality of the Business and Support for troubles or questions
Applications can be made by accessing the Daegu Metropolitan City Public Agency's "Life Long Education Portal" online platform and searching for 'Blockchain'. Related inquiries can be sent to Daegu Metropolitan City Public Agency contacts directly. This program will be operated in three batches. Following the '1st course' in September, the '2nd course' will proceed in January 2024, and the '3rd course' will be held in May 2024, with each course lasting four months.
Jeong Soon-cheon, the head of the Daegu Happiness Promotion Institute, stated, “Since the inception of our institution, we've been running various youth participation programs and have received numerous requests from local youth for specialized education on blockchain.” She added, “Moving forward, we will continue to create diverse programs that reflect the real voices and needs of our young people.”
