Polkadot’s ongoing mission to unlock the full potential of Web3 has seen several milestones so far in 2023. With the recent official release of the completed version of Polkadot 1.0, Polkadot is proposing a major step in its scaling roadmap: Asynchronous Backing.
⚡ It's a major boost to parachain throughput, and enhances efficiency & scalability natively - without sacrificing trust assumptions and security.
Async backing optimizes Polkadot’s parachain consensus protocol by:
🔹 Reducing the block time
🔹 Increasing block space
🔹 Allowing blocks to be ‘reused’ if they initially don’t make it onto the Relay Chain
